Amuro Namie week continues…………………. It’s been a light day on the blog but a busy day at the office. It’s Friday night and this boy is heading out for a night on the town. But as promised, I’m still going to leave with a little bit of Amuro before I take off. Besides, you guys should be out and not reading this blog on a Friday anyway! No, I’m just kidding. I really appreciate everybody who comes here to the Soapbox and I hope you have enjoyed Amuro Namie week. So, tonight I will leave you with one of Namie’s biggest concerts ever, The Space of Hip-Hop. So, grab a cold one, sit back and enjoy. I’ll be back tomorrow…………………………………..with a hell of a hangover. More after the jump! Amuro Namie week continues……… Amuro finally came back into the spotlight in 2003 after a breakup with her husband and the launch of her So Crazy tour which covered her hits from 2002-2003. During this time, she collaborated with many of the top hip-hop and R&B artists in Japan. Namie had latched on to her new genre of music and she ran with it. Namie followed up the next 3 years with a number of top 10 singles including “The Speed Star” which rose all the way to number one. She also was the only Japanese artist to perform for the tsunami charity concert MTV Asia Aid. MTV would see a lot of Namie as she took home 5 MTV music awards the following three years in a row. Some of the songs awarded were “The Speed Star” and “Girl Talk”. “Want Me, Want Me”: Finally, “Queen of Hip-Hop”: Stay tuned for more tomorrow!
Enjoy! Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: View the rest after the jump! Great news for Grand Theft Auto fans from Brian Ashcraft over at Kotaku. Capcom is bringing GTA IV to Japan sometime in 2008. Which is actually surprising news.
If I’m correct, GTA: San Andreas didn’t come out here until early last year. It kind of causes a dilemma though. If you’re in Japan, which version do you buy? Do you import the US or Asia XBOX 360 or PS3 versions or wait for the Japanese one. I already have my Asia version ordered so I have made my decision. I wonder what Japanese gamers are thinking now. Anybody? Anyways you can still head over to GDEX and pre-order the Asian versions of the game if need be. But make it quick as the US versions are sold out. The US versions are also available at Amazon. By the way, how about some gameplay?

Reon Kadena ranked 37th most beautiful woman in the worldPosted by: Dave in Japanese BabesTCCANDLER.com has posted The Annual Independent Critics List of the 100 most beautiful faces around the world for 2008. Kadena Reon is number 37. Since we here at Samurai Soapbox are fans of Reon, this is a cause for celebration! Our friends over at FuckedGaijin have pointed out the fact that there are much prettier girls in Japan than Reon and that it solidifies the “fact” that:
Well I don’t know about that. But, I do agree that there are a hell of a lot more beautiful women in Japan than Reon. I tell you what though. I would much rather watch Reon in this next video than watch Ebi-chan run around with a cheeseburger in her mouth. But, that’s just me. Cue the video: So, who was number one? Natalie Portman. Now for the burning question.

Amuro Namie week: Namie tries at a comebackPosted by: Dave in Jpop, tags: amuro namie, JpopAmuro Namie week continues…………. After a layoff of a year because of her pregnancy, Namie returned to the music scene in 1998. From 1998-2001, she released 2 albums and also went on tour. But, she was never able to capture the success that led to the many awards and accolades she had received before taking her time off. None of her singles reached the number one plateau and she struggled to produce a hit song that could match the success of “Can You Celebrate?”, which was released in 1997. Motherhood and a troubled marriage seemed to have taken the edge and spark out of the once Japanese diva whose pictures graced the cover of every fashion magazine in Japan that every young girl raced to pick up on their way home from school. There were a few highlights however and “Respect the Power of Love” was one. Namie breaks it down with “Toi Et Moi”. Finally, “Never End” which was written fot the 2000 G8 Summit. Tomorrow, Namie lands her way back up on top of the charts. Stay tuned! |
